Nursing Informatics in Action

Nursing informatics is about the ability for nurses to use information and systems to make a difference in nursing practice and patient care outcomes. Often we as nurses do not realize the importance and impact technology can have on our practice and health care outcomes. This impact often has both positive and negative effects for nurses. Experience has shown us that nursing involvement in translating clinical practice to technology is key to maximizing positive outcomes. It is vital that nurses not only get involved in informatics projects but also demonstrate by leading the way. Here is an example of how nurses have used technology in the community:

2015 Atlantic NSNIG Conference

Looking Back and Moving Forward; Celebrating 20 years of NSNIG was the theme for this year's conference, held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The key note spaker was Richard Booth. Richard currently works as Assistant Professor at the Authur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Western University in Ontario. He spoke on the exciting topic of social media within health care.
